Using a thermal rewritable (TR) technology, Document Security Systems, Inc. manufactures a card where text, images, and even gray scale photographs can be printed and erased again and again by controlling the temperature applied to the media. Card applications with this technology are used extensively throughout the world for loyalty and temporary ID programs.

The printing does not require ink supplies to form images - only thermal heads. These cards are available in both 10 and 30mil thickness, with or without RFID technology.
